Any products of new media that allows people to create profiles where its then shared among other users in the community always has issues with privacy and confidentiality because there are open back doors that outside people can get a hold of your information, which makes social networks like Facebook, twitter, snapchat, and instgram look bad.
According to Wikipedia, "Blogs differs from Wikis by the content that is created without any defined owner or leader, and wikis have little implicit structure, allowing structure to emerge according to the needs of the users." The way I understand the difference is looking at Wikis as a page that is constantly edited for accuracy on a subjective topic, while blogs are a thread of ideas of individuals giving their opinions across a platform such Reddit.
Privacy is such a huge issue because people have become so comfortable with exposing their personal information without thinking that there are people dedicated to spying and lurking. Most social networking sites also tend to mark your location, which people tend to forget. Even with the privacy options available, there are always loop-holes to them. Because so many people use new media, it would be difficult for techs company to keep privacy and confidentiality up to date.
